04 - Ipcress Tweed

This nailhead tweed is robust and hardy with a hand that is pleasantly rustic without the prickliness of a classic estate tweed. The pattern is designed to camouflage with the Scottish landscape, so it is naturally excellent at hiding dirt and stains. The British cheviot wool has a natural spring that ensures high resilience to creasing with minimal need for pressing or other maintenance. It has a substantial amount of body and a firm drape. A hard-wearing cloth that will look after itself and keep its shape for many years.
Tweed was the technical fabric of the pre-industrial era; hard-wearing, compact, warm and weatherproof. Invented in Scotland and originally produced on hand looms, the name itself is said to have come from the River Tweed that runs through the Scottish borders.
